The health and dental premium reduction we provided to plan sponsors for April and May gave relief in real-time. In implementing this, it reflected the anticipated decrease in plan member health and dental claims due to pandemic closure of service providers. We indicated that we would monitor the situation monthly. As provinces re-open, we expect claim activity to resume slowly. However, the return to average claims activity will likely be gradual. Hence why we are extending the Health and Dental premium relief for June.
As the provision of services returns to a more near-normal state in July, we anticipate suspending the reduction for the July billing period. We will continue to monitor the pandemic environment and will dynamically make adjustments as needed.
While we cautiously move towards a ‘business as usual’ environment we continue to support you and your plan sponsors as businesses re-open. Some of the new processes that we implemented during the pandemic are more sustainable and provide greater convenience.
We are excited to continue to provide these options:
- Added ability to adjudicate claims for virtual health services from regulated practitioners.
- Ability to remit premium payments through electronic methods, including online banking.
- Convenient virtual pay direct drug cards available to plan members through the Benefits Now® mobile app.
- One step claims submission: Being prompted to add receipts to electronic health and dental claims submissions prevents delays in the adjudication process.
The health, safety, and wellbeing of our clients are important to us. That is why we have donated $200,000 to 28 local United Way Centraides. As a result, we hope to help support Canada’s most vulnerable and impacted areas due to COVID-19. By working together, we can flatten the curve. Thank you for doing your part.
